Hiraeth Magazine and Podcast

In 2016, Monica co-founded the creative platform, Hiraeth magazine and podcast, which was a collaborative community-building initiative that used visual, written and oral storytelling to explore the concept of ‘finding home’.

Hiraeth is a Welsh word meaning ‘longing for a home that no longer exists or never was,’ and the project began when a group of artists and writers in Amsterdam came together with an effort to combat xenophobia in our communities by asking the question: What is home?

Since then, Hiraeth evolved into something of a bazaar; a meeting place for cultural exchange including a range of events, collaborations, and a digital magazine and podcast.
